Turn your podcast episodes to short-form videos with AI
Repurpose your podcast episodes and make them ready for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels in minutes
Short-form content has become a mainstream way for people to consume content. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts boomed during the pandemic and are now here to stay. If you're a creator you know short-form content can bring new challenges such as adapting your content or workflow to fit this new trendy format, algorithm competition and more. But it also brings a crucial opportunity - the repurposing of long content (like podcasts which can be ai-generated nowadays) as well as its promotion. Tools like Vizard AI, Opus (check Opus Clip review) and Framedrop take the best moments from long content and transform it into viral shorts for social media, but which one is the best for you? Let’s learn what the best Vizard AI alternative is.
The Best Vizard AI Alternative: Framedrop.ai
Framedrop.ai is ideal for mobile-friendly editing, unlike Vizard, which is limited to desktop only. However, Vizard offers strong customization and robust transcript editing. Framedrop’s edge lies in powerful AI detection for creating polished clips quickly on any device. For businesses, Framedrop is also a more affordable, streamlined choice, with automated content creation, social media analytics, and team-friendly features - making it perfect for professional, on-the-go video solutions. We go more in-depth between the 2 tools at the bottom of the blog post.
Vizard AI Features Overview
AI Highlight Detection
With Vizard’s AI-driven highlight detection, you can easily identify key moments in your videos. Simply import your video and choos (through file upload or direct link), choose “Generate clips by AI” and in minutes Vizard will find these moments, clip them and titling them and sorting them by “Viral Score”. In my experience this Viral Score was hit or miss and some clips that placed on the top were poorly cut and too short to constitute a good clip (as can be seen on the screenshot). I recommend manually viewing each clip to see which ones stand out.
Podcast Transcription & Editing
When importing a video, if instwad of AI Detection you choose “Transcribe & Edit video” you get access to their transcript editor which lets you edit the video by interacting with the text. Vizard lets you transcribe podcasts in 34 languages, about the same as Framedrop.ai.
Through the transcript you can create clips, correct subtitles or cut parts of the video. You may need to edit the transcription for accuracy, particularly if the audio includes low-quality recordings or people speaking simultaneously.
AI Captions
Vizard automatically generates captions (not to be confused with caption generators) and allows you to download subtitles in SRT format as well as supporting multiple language translations making your content more accessible to international audiences. Additionally, it lets you add an emoji per line to add extra flare to what is being said.
You can also stylize your subtitles, equivalent to Framedrop’s caption customization. Vizard’s offers templates but I found them to be generic. If you want your shorts to look different than most of the content out there Framedrop’s more powerful caption customization might be something to take a look at.
B-roll
Powered by Pexels, Vizard.ai offers the option to add b-roll footage to the video you’re editing. Although good in certain contexts, it was hard to find specific niche b-roll footage although this might be more of a problem with copyright free image image and video solutions than Vizard itself.

Auto-reframe/Speaker Detection
Vizard’s auto-reframe, equivalent to Framedrop’s Speaker Detection, automatically detects the person speaking and centers the camera on them when verticalizing a video. This is especially helpful in content with multiple speakers on screen that does not fit the vertical format well. Both tools have this feature on by default.
Social Media Scheduling
Vizard integrates social media scheduling tools, allowing you to upload and queue content for platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn (latter is available for paid plans only). This makes managing your content flow easier. That being said, you won’t find advanced analytics to track engagement, which may be important for social media professionals and is present on Framedrop.ai.
Pricing
Free
Vizard AI free plan works fine for casual users or anyone new to video editing. With 120 minutes of upload time, a limit of 10 video exports and 720p resolution, you can access basic features like AI-generated clip creation and Vizard’s essential tools. It’s ideal for testing out the platform’s capabilities but lacks advanced editing options and permanent storage, so it’s best for small projects or exploratory use.
Creator
For individual content creators, the Creator plan gives you more flexibility. At $20 per month for 800 minutes or $30 per month for 1200 minutes, this plan includes 1,200 upload minutes, unlimited exports, up to 4K video quality, and watermark-free outputs. The Creator plan also includes social media scheduling, automated text-to-video transformation, and permanent media storage, so you can produce, store, and share your content with ease.
Team
The Team plan is designed for organizations with collaborative needs. Starting at $60 per month with a minimum of two seats, it provides 6,000 upload minutes. This plan also includes shared workspaces and a customizable brand kit. The Team plan is ideal for marketing teams, agencies, and businesses looking to streamline their video workflows but is more expensive than direct alternatives due to requiring at least 2 seats (Framedrop’s Pro plan starts at $29 and features Social Media Analytics and Automations for maximum efficiency).
Mobile Limitations
Here we can see that Vizard.ai is quite limited on mobile:
After you upload a video to Vizard and go through the lengthy AI detection process, it can be demoralizing to realize that, on mobile, you’re limited to only finding highlights and exporting clips. It won’t even let you access your workspace with previous projects. Editing features and adjustments available on the desktop version are locked on mobile, leaving you unable to make any further edits or fine-tune your video directly from your phone.
Vizard.ai vs Framedrop.ai
As mentioned, Vizard’s strengths lie in its robust transcript editor, its subtitle related features like “.srt” file download and translation, its customizability and the post scheduler but a lot of focus went into making these features more in-depth and complex.
Framedrop.ai is a more user-friendly and lightweight platform, tailored for those who need efficient video editing on both desktop and mobile. Unlike Vizard, which restricts all features to desktop, Framedrop offers full functionality on mobile, making it ideal for on-the-go workflows and quick short video creation. Framedrop's AI detection is also highly effective, producing polished results that surpass Vizard's clips “out of the box”. Additionally, Framedrop.ai allows users to automate more of the content creation process by way of Automations (which allow for AI detection of new content automatically) while still retaining key features like AI Captions (which can be edited and customized), Auto-reframe/Speaker Detection, Direct Share and of course performance tracking by way of the Social Media Analytics dashboard. Plus, if your content is audio-only Framedrop offers Audiograms, visually pleasing animated backgrounds that react to your audio and that will allow you to share these key moments on social media.
Last but not least, for businesses Framedrop.ai stands out with a more cost-effective, business-centric feature set such as multiple and seamless workspace creation and seats designed to support companies in achieving professional results while facilitating collaboration between team members.
You’re a Vizard, Harry
Both tools are very capable and which one is better for you depends more on your type of content, your skills and needs. For a more customizable, editing heavy experience Vizard.ai will work great. For a more automated experience, from clipping to publishing while keeping up with posts’ performance, Framedrop is the easier-to-use and all around better option. As we say hi to 2025, it is time to bring automation to your workflow and say goodbye to tedious hours of boring processes and work. I hope this blog post helped you make a decision on the Vizard AI alternative to use moving forward and if that tool is Framedrop feel free to try it for free!
